Scapegrace Classic is a New Zealand gin that combines the structure of a London Dry with a modern, artisanal production approach. It is produced in small batches using discontinuous distillation in 19th-century copper pot stills, a method that ensures a slow, controlled process capable of enhancing aromatic extraction and the overall complexity of the spirit.
The alcohol base is derived from pure grain, while the water used comes from rainfall retained for around eighty years in the mountains of the west coast of the South Island and naturally filtered through underground rock layers, a characteristic that gives it exceptional purity.
The recipe calls for the use of 12 botanicals: juniper, orange and lemon peel, coriander, angelica, liquorice, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, cassia bark, orris root and cloves. Together, these create a balanced aromatic profile in which the classic dry, resinous imprint of juniper is combined with traditional citrus notes—lemon and especially orange peel taking centre stage—enriched by floral nuances and delicate spice.
The Scapegrace Classic Gin stands out for its versatility: excellent enjoyed neat to appreciate its finesse, it truly shines in a clean and elegant gin & tonic, where its citrus and balsamic character emerges with great clarity. It also lends itself extremely well to classic cocktail mixing, ideal for those seeking a gin with a defined personality that is never excessive.

Color: Clear, crystal-clear.
Nose: Classic juniper emerges immediately, clean and unmistakable. Delicate floral notes follow, lending elegance to the aromatic profile. As the gin opens in the glass, earthy and spicy tones begin to surface. The bouquet is completed by a lively and persistent burst of citrus.
Palate: The entry is broad and fresh, with pronounced aromatic intensity. Juniper and citrus—especially orange peel—take centre stage, supported by warm spices. The flavour progression is linear and well balanced, with the citrus component remaining the main focus.
Finish: The finish is warm and enveloping, with a marked persistence of juniper. Surprisingly long, it allows waves of orange and light floral nuances to re-emerge.
