Russian Imperial Stout Gin - Single Barrel
A gin inspired by Russian Imperial Stout and aged in oak barrels for almost a year, one of Enzo Leonardelli’s special projects!

Malto di orzo
This time, Distilleria Leonardelli and its founder Enzo surprise us with a meditation gin, a true link between gin, beer, and whisky. The Russian Imperial Stout Gin – Single Barrel is the result of a special project created in collaboration with Eastside Brewery in Latina.
The juniper is first infused and then distilled together with a mash inspired by a Russian Imperial Stout recipe conceived by Enzo himself: a complex blend made up of around ten malts and grains, each with a different level of roasting. Part of these malts is also processed in the gin basket, allowing their most intense aromatic notes to be transferred into the distillate. The resulting gin is then aged for one year in ex-bourbon barrels that had previously held Eastside’s Russian Imperial Stout for 26 months.
The result is a distillate with a bright amber colour, a marked wood influence, clear notes of toasted malt, and a warm, enveloping sensation on the palate, accompanied by a surprising savouriness. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a limited edition of 333 numbered bottles. To fully appreciate its complexity and elegance, this gin should be enjoyed strictly neat.

Color: Bright amber.
Nose: It opens with juniper and toasted malt notes, followed by hints of dark cocoa and a subtle nuance of coffee beans. Oak notes also emerge, along with a background of sweet fruit that harmoniously completes the aromatic profile.
Palate: Robust and warm structure, where toasted barley malt and the influence of the cask emerge decisively. Juniper brings freshness and aromatic lift, while the profile continuously evolves with notes of dark cocoa, vanilla, and a pleasant savouriness. The whole offers a precise balance between malt sweetness and the characteristic dryness of gin.
Finish: Long and enveloping, with woody returns and slight smoky accents, finishing with a persistence that naturally invites a second sip.
