The William Kerr's Borders Gin is the inaugural distillate from The Borders Distillery and represents one of the rare Scottish expressions where the base spirit is produced entirely on site. The distillery uses its own malted barley spirit, sourced from local farmers, and it is currently the only Scottish gin crafted with a malted barley base spirit in a Carter Head still.
On this foundation, a selection of traditional botanicals is gently distilled through vapor infusion, a process that best preserves the purity, finesse, and aromatic complexity of the product. The result is a smooth and harmonious gin, rich in fresh pine notes, vibrant citrus, sweet cinnamon, and a refreshing hint of mint, perfectly balanced between intensity and elegance.
This gin pays tribute to William Kerr, a botanist originally from the region, known for traveling the world in search of new plant species. His pioneering spirit also lives on in the label design, which illustrates the botanicals used, sourced both locally and from afar: juniper, cassia bark, orange peel, and licorice root.
