The Silent Pool Gin is born in the heart of the Surrey Hills, beside the clear and mysterious waters of the spring from which it takes its name—a distillate that reflects the authentic beauty of the English countryside. It is crafted in a rare wood-fired still, heated not by direct flame but through a specially designed furnace—one of the few of its kind still in use today, and the only one dedicated exclusively to gin.
Every stage of production, including bottling, takes place at the small Silent Pool Distillery, where the spirit gains its character from 24 meticulously chosen botanicals: delicate flowers, bright citrus, spices, and local honey. Two types of juniper define its aromatic backbone: Macedonian, refined and elegant, and Bosnian, intense, pungent, and resinous. The process unfolds in four precise steps, ensuring quality control and shaping a complex, harmonious profile. Some botanicals, including Bosnian juniper, licorice, cassia, orris, and bergamot, are ground and left to macerate in the base spirit for 24 hours before distillation, imparting depth and structure to the palate.
Next comes the basket infusion inside the Holstein still, where fresh orange and lime peel, pear, Macedonian juniper, and angelica (among others) enrich the distillate with vibrant citrus aromas and lively layers. Finally, the most delicate botanicals, with their minimal essential oil content such as rose petals, kaffir lime leaves, linden, and elderflower are treated separately through the “Gin Tea Infusion” method, extracting their pure aromatic compounds. Once filtered, these infusions are added to the still, enhancing the gin with complex, ethereal floral nuances.
