The Shetland Reel Wildfire is a limited edition gin, created by The Shetland Distillery Company in collaboration with Ann Cleeves, the renowned British crime novelist.
The gin is inspired by her latest book in the Shetland series, entitled Wild Fire. It is a well-balanced London Dry Gin, with classic notes of juniper and sweet spices, leading to a persistent and warming finish.
The recipe is based on traditional gin botanicals such as juniper and coriander, enhanced with carefully selected ingredients to provide a pleasant spicy warmth: black pepper, mustard seeds, dried red chillies, and locally grown sorrel. The latter, a plant typical of the Shetland flora, adds a herbal and slightly tart note, perfectly balancing the strength of the spices.

Colour: Clear, crystalline.
Nose: Herbaceous and slightly citrusy aromas, with spicy notes that develop gradually. Juniper is clearly present without being dominant, intertwining with hints of black pepper, mustard and sorrel to create a fresh and lively bouquet, underpinned by a warm, aromatic character.
Palate: On the palate, it is warm, bold and complex. Classic juniper notes blend with vegetal and spicy nuances, including cinnamon, sweet orange and a measured heat from dried red chillies, black pepper and mustard seeds. The texture is clean and slightly velvety, with an elegant balance between freshness and warmth.
Finish: Long and persistent, with an aromatic and spicy aftertaste. The enveloping warmth of the spices lingers on the palate, leaving an intense and pleasant sensation. Sweet, warming notes emerge on the finish, accompanied by a subtle hint of spice.
