Produced on the island of Unst, the northernmost of the Shetlands, The Shetland Reel Original Gin is crafted at the small Saxa Vord distillery and fully expresses the authenticity of its territory. The recipe combines nine traditional botanicals – juniper, citrus peel, coriander, orris root, and cassia – with a unique local touch: apple mint grown on the island, which imparts freshness and a distinctive character.
On the nose it reveals delicate notes of juniper and citrus intertwined with light spices, while on the palate it opens with lime and pepper, then evolves into a herbal, balsamic freshness. The finish is clean, lively, and refreshing, perfectly balanced between the dryness of a London Dry and the softness of the island mint.
