For The Portobello Road Old Tom Gin, the distillery takes inspiration from an 18th-century recipe attributed to the Hodges distillery of Lambeth, seeking to recreate the original aromatic profile using ingredients that reflect the traditional gin production practices.
This edition of Old Tom Gin is produced in small batches of a maximum of 400 litres at the Portobello Road Gin Distillery, located in the heart of Notting Hill, London, using the copper pot still named King Henry.
Starting from an English barley distillate, the gin is redistilled with an essential botanical recipe, then sweetened with sugar according to the Old Tom style tradition. Before bottling, it is briefly aged in oak casks that previously contained sherry, thus acquiring greater smoothness and aromatic complexity. The result is a gin that pays homage to history, with a distinctive and authentic character.

Colour: Clear with a slight straw hue.
Nose: It opens with intense aromas of resinous and bold juniper, crisp lemon peel, spicy coriander and a touch of anise, with delicate floral nuances of lavender and liquorice.
Palate: On the palate, the gin reveals elegance with notes of glazed lemon cake, iced biscuits and spicy accents of pepper and cloves; the juniper remains well present, wrapped in hints of aromatic herbs and liquorice.
Finish: Dry, of medium length, dominated by sweet liquorice and warm spices, with a slight citrus note.
