The Kaikyō 135° East Dry Gin is produced in the city of Akashi, in Hyōgo Prefecture, crossed by the 135° East meridian from which it takes its name.

A true symbol of East meets West, this gin reflects the vision of Master Distiller Kimio Yonezawa, who chose to blend three classic London Dry botanicals – juniper, coriander and angelica – with five quintessentially Japanese ingredients: yuzu, sencha green tea, shiso leaf, ume (Japanese plum) and sansho pepper. All botanicals are sourced from small local producers and leading specialists across Japan.

Each ingredient is distilled separately through vacuum distillation, a method that preserves the purest and most delicate aromatic nuances. A touch of Akashi-Tai Junmai sake completes the recipe, lending softness and harmony to the flavour profile. Sake is also used as the alcohol base, in place of the traditional neutral grain spirit.

Bottled at 42% ABV, 135° East Dry Gin offers an intense floral bouquet with lively citrus and spice notes. On the palate it is silky and well-balanced, with a warm, lingering finish. It embodies the Japanese art of precision, designed for those seeking a gin with an authentic character that tells a story of cultural fusion in every sip.

Nose: Intense and enveloping, with a powerful floral bouquet enhanced by fresh notes of yuzu and lemon peel. Subtle herbal undertones and a gentle spice hint add depth and complexity.

Palate: Silky and balanced – bright citrus meets delicate floral and slightly bitter notes, while shiso leaf and sencha tea bring depth and softness. The overall impression is harmonious, with an elegant, refined progression.

Finish: Warm and spicy, with sansho pepper bringing a lingering heat elegantly balanced by the sake distillate.
