Produced at Asahikawa Distillery, located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, Etsu Pacific Ocean Water Gin stands out for its use of spring water from Mount Taisetsu and deep-extracted seawater from the Pacific Ocean, which imparts a subtle yet distinctive iodine note to the spirit.
The traditional botanicals, carefully sourced from top-quality raw materials, include juniper berries, bitter orange peel, Japanese yuzu, liquorice root, angelica, and coriander seeds. These are macerated for 22 hours in sugarcane alcohol before being distilled together in a single “one-shot” process using a copper pot still.
The distilled spirit comes out at around 83% ABV, then is diluted to 45% ABV with an exclusive combination of spring water and seawater before final filtration. The result is a gin with a unique identity, blending Japanese artisanal tradition with the natural influences of Hokkaido’s marine and mountain environment.

Nose: Opens with a lively and refreshing aromatic profile, dominated by fresh citrus notes of yuzu and bitter orange peel. Balsamic juniper and a hint of herbs are present, accompanied by a delicate yet distinctive iodine-salty nuance that evokes the Pacific sea breeze.
Palate: Reveals a smooth and balanced structure. The saline notes blend with the brightness of yuzu, creating a unique harmony between marine freshness and ripe citrus. Classic botanicals—such as angelica, coriander, and liquorice root—add roundness and a light yet persistent spicy depth.
Finish: Silky and surprisingly rounded. Marine and citrus sensations linger, with a clean, velvety tail that invites another sip.
