The Original Gin is Eden Mill’s take on a classic London Dry gin, with a modern twist. The St Andrews-based distillery lies on a particularly stormy Scottish coastline. From this, Eden Mill draws inspiration to create its first gin using sea buckthorn berries, an exceptionally resilient superfood that thrives in harsh, briny coastal conditions. The berries’ distinctive tart flavor is prominent, but the gin is balanced with citrus elements derived from other botanicals, such as liquorice root and citrus peel.

Nose: The gin opens with a strong citrus note of lemon peel, bitter orange, and grapefruit. Midway through, subtle coriander spices and a hint of clove emerge, enriched by sweet white fruits.
Palate: Juniper makes itself known with bold spice, followed by green pepper and the bitter berries of cranberry and sea buckthorn. A delicate hint of pear and lychee blends with a soft note of sweet orange peel and a light touch of vanilla.
Finish: The finish is clean and smooth, marked by a delicate flavor of pink pepper that gradually fades into a sweet citrus note, leaving a fresh and light sensation.
