The Cotswolds Old Tom Gin is inspired by the traditional botanical composition of 18th-century Old Tom recipes, reimagined with the elegance and craftsmanship that define the Cotswolds Distillery.
Distilled from a neutral grain spirit at 60% ABV, it combines juniper, coriander, angelica root, fresh orange peel, liquorice root, ground ginger, cumin and cardamom, resulting in a rich and layered aromatic profile. Only the purest part of the distillate – the so-called “heart” – is selected for bottling. Thanks to the natural sweetness of the chosen botanicals, just a touch of sugar syrup, in true Old Tom style, is enough to achieve a harmonious balance without masking the complexity of the flavours. The final addition of filtered water brings the gin to its definitive strength of 42% ABV.

Colour: Clear, crystalline.
Nose: Soft and enveloping aromas. Opens with sweet notes of candied orange peel and liquorice root, followed by a spicy background of ginger and cardamom. Hints of herbs and a subtle balsamic note appear in the distance.
Palate: Rounded and velvety on entry, with the natural sweetness of the botanicals accompanying bright orange citrus and the warm spice of ginger. Cumin gradually emerges, adding a drier, aromatic spiciness that balances the structure beautifully. Liquorice root contributes depth and persistence.
Finish: Long, smooth and spicy, with a pleasant return of liquorice and a light peppery, balsamic note. All wrapped in a measured sweetness that enhances rather than conceals the gin’s more complex nuances.
